Parent Presentation Tonight

  Copperfield School Council is offering a free TELUS Wise workshop for Copperfield Parents/Guardians at 6pm tonight.  Many children are using technology and the workshop is designed to support Parents/Guardians to better understand topics including screen time, gaming, cyberbullying and more.  The presentation will be virtual and Copperfield parents/guardians can log on using a personal device to participate using the following link:   https://meet.google.com/bfj-poun-cms

  Good Afternoon Students and Parents of Room 126! It’s hard to believe it is already June! I want to thank you all for your support this year, especially for stepping up when we needed volunteers. There are many incredible experiences we had this year that could not have happened without you.  Please continue to read about Curriculum updates and Important Dates to Come! Math Topics for the Last Couple Weeks  (As you are aware, we have a robust curriculum this year! Upcoming Volunteer Meeting for Grade 5 Celebration

  Friday, May 10, 2024   Dear Parents and Guardians of Grade 5 Students,   As the end of the year slowly approaches, we find ourselves beginning to organize this year’s Grade 5 Celebration. Students will soon be on their way to middle school and it’s time to celebrate the completion of their Elementary School years.   We are asking for any parents and/or guardians who would like to be part of planning, organizing and preparing the day of the celebration, to meet on Thursday, May 23rd at 3:30 pm in Room 126 for a brief meeting (approximately 30 minutes). Your role as a volunteer will support our Grade 5 Teaching Team along with Ms. Bohan our Music teacher in creating this year’s Grade 5 Celebration on Monday, June 24 th , 2024.   Thank you, Mrs. Barr, Ms. Bohan, Ms. Heaney, Mrs. MacQueen, and Mr. Marino

  May Newsletter & Important Information   Good Afternoon Students and Parents of Room 126! Thank you for your continued support this year as working together is key in providing the best learning opportunities for the lovely students in our class! First off, I wanted to share with the parents of how well the students did in my absence last week. Mrs. Wright enjoyed her time with our class, had amazing things to say and is looking forward to seeing them again on May 30 th  (I will be away for the day). Wilder Institute – Burrowing Owl Conservation

  Wilder Institute – Burrowing Owl Conservation   As participants in the Conservation Champions Festival with the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, the grade 3 students in Mrs. Moravec’s and Mrs. Price’s classes, have chosen to support and educate others on the burrowing owl.    Copperfield School will be collecting donations starting on April 22 nd  through April 26 th  2024 to raise money for the “Head Starting Program” that is aimed at caring for and protecting burrowing owlets until they are stronger, and able to be released safely into the wild as adults. Our hope is that we will be able to raise over a thousand dollars towards this program.   For  every  $2 donation, your child will earn a classroom ballot.  After the fundraiser is over, we will draw a ballot and the winning class will get the opportunity to play a game of dodgeball vs. the teachers and staff of Copperfield!   Mrs. MacQueen’s Room 126 Classroom Update and Important Dates to Remember   Good Evening Parents and Students,   Thank you for your continued support in ensuring your child is on time and ready to learn each day! We continue to chip away at the very robust grade 5 curriculum with success! Below is an update on what we are working on in each Curriculum area as well as an update of important dates.   Please note that I will be away next week and Mrs. Kris Wright will be stepping in during my absence. She is a lovely teacher that I have worked with over the last several years and I am sure our class will enjoy her! I will be reviewing behavior and academic expectations with students this week in preparation.   Math  – We are currently finishing up 2 by 2-digit and 3 by 2-digit multiplication with a math quiz at the end of this week.
