February Updates

Hello Grade 5 Families! The week ahead looks very snowy with milder weather. I am hoping that we will be able to take a walk to the Wildflower Pond this week, so I ask that students come prepared for the weather. Dressing for the weather: We are at a time in the year where it can be extremely cold in the mornings and then be sweating by the afternoon- please remind your child to dress in layers and bring warm clothing, including hats, mittens and jackets, as well as snow pants/ splash pants (otherwise we inevitably end up with students in wet pants).  Google Classroom: Your student can access practice websites and printable pdfs on our google classroom (student needs to log in using their educbe email).  Scholastic orders: If you are interested in ordering, you can visit the scholastic website and use our class code RC177015. This allows our class to earn rewards so I can add to our classroom library.  February is Kindness Month at Copperfield School ! We will...

Winter Concert

If you were fortunate to be able to see one of our concerts yesterday you will already know just how amazing our class performed! I must say that my favorite piece was the Happy Potter chimes! All students blew me away with how great they performed! With so much illness going around, our class talked about the importance of washing hands in the classroom throughout the day as we want to enjoy our holidays!  Students are currently working on Region Projects in Social Studies. Please ask the about this! In Math we are working on a mini unit on Coordinate Geometry. This is one of the easier concepts in grade 5 math, so it is a nice confidence booster. We will be having a quiz tomorrow or Monday.  We have also been listening to a read aloud book, Turtle Boy. We will be having a check-in quiz on this tomorrow as well.  This morning after watching the grade 1-3 concert, we went on a winter walk with Mrs. Barr's class around the pond. It was a great way to run off some ene...

Students and Parents of Room 126, As we are slowly approaching the Winter Break, I want to thank all students and their families for a fantastic start to the school year! There has been so many memorable moments of learning and excitement and it very much speaks to the kindest and resilient students of Room 126! Two more weeks to go!  Attendance will continue to be important up to the last day as we will continue to be learning and completing projects. Thank you to those who have contacted me about starting holidays early.  We will be completing our dioramas and write-ups about City Hall School this week and students may take them home at the end of the Winter Concert!  Students will be completing a big Canada Regions Project this week and next (possibly into the new year).  This week is Winter Concert!
