Welcome to the 2023/2024 school year! I am pleased to introduce myself as your child’s grade five teacher. My name is Mrs. Emily MacQueen and this will be my twelfth year with the CBE and second year at Copperfield School. Previously, I worked in other schools within the CBE and boards within Alberta. I am a passionate teacher who strives to make learning fun and rewarding! This year, unlike others, will be a memorable one! I look forward to working with you to ensure a safe and caring learning experience for your child. First Days of School: During the first few weeks of school, I will be learning about your child, both personally and academically. As building relationships will be of utmost importance within our cohort classroom among students and myself, we will be spending time getting to know one another in order to build a cohesive classroom community. I will be learning about who your child is, how they learn and what level your child is at, in order to best support them in
I am very excited to welcome back students for a 4-day week of Back To School! I promise we will get up to a full 5-day week! 😁 Our first couple days were full of getting to know you games and setting routines and expectations! We certainly have a lovely class in Room 126! Please make sure you get all your forms completed and sent in so that we can start taking walks to the local ponds. I would also appreciate parents completing their security clearances and/or ensuring they are up to date as we will require many volunteers for our week at City Hall School, November 27th - December 1st, as well as a field trip tentatively planned for May to the Military Museum. This week will be filled with many getting to know you activities and pre-assessments. Pre-assessments are necessary so that I can effectively plan lessons that target each and every learner in our classroom. I share these results with you during each Parents/Teacher conferences. I will share a schedule once things settle a
You should have received field trip forms via School Messenger (through the office). If you are not able to print your own forms, let me know and I will send home a paper copy. You can fill them out online and then e-mail them to me as well. Tomorrow, Friday, November 17th is Pajama Day, only in Mrs. MacQueen & Mrs. Barr's class (not a whole school event). Students earned a reward. They can wear pajamas and bring a small stuffed animal. Thank you & Have a Great Night!
